Rentia Oosthuizen: Athlete with a positive attitude

Morelia, Mexico held the 7th DSISO (Down Syndrome International Swimming Organisation) Championship last year from 7 to 15 November 2014. Our South African Team achieved remarkable success in these events. They ranked 7th position on the medal tally, competing against 21 countries, bringing home 20 Medals (3 Gold, 5 Silver, 12 Bronze). One of these amazing athletes was Rentia Oosthuizen from Middelburg in the Eastern Cape.

The town of Middelburg set in the Karoo with scenic landscapes brought forward a beautiful, talented lady with a positive “can do” attitude. With support from family and trainers, Rentia Oosthuizen (22) did very well in these events. She got bronze in the 400m Freestyle Relay. She also succeeded to achieve her Personal Best times in 7 events!

With a desire to achieve and succeed Rentia is a great motivation for all of us!
